The effect of ozone on Sitophilus oryzae, an internal feeder of stored wheat, was investigated using dose-response experiments. Eggs, immature stages, and adults were exposed to 200 ppm ozone for 6, 18, and 30 hours at depths of 5, 15, and 25 cm within wheat-filled columns. Mortality was consistently higher at the 5 cm depth than at 15 or 25 cm across life stages. Findings suggest ozone may be an effective fumigant, though efficacy depends on exposure time, depth within the grain mass, and post-treatment time.
