This study tested six essential oils and compounds — thyme, oregano, cinnamon, clove, eugenol, and orange terpenes — for repellency and toxicity against the maize weevil on stored organic corn, where synthetic pesticides are not an option. The work addresses the search for effective, organic-compliant alternatives to conventional fumigants for protecting stored grain from insect infestation and the resulting quality and yield losses.
